Zippo Lighters and Zippo Accessories:
We carry a large line of genuine Zippo lighters and accessories.
Zippo has become a collecoter's favorite the world over. They quality and reputation is unmatched in the industry.
The Zippo Manufacturing Co. will sell 18 million lighters this year, more than twice its production of ten years ago. Zippo prices most of its lighters to sell at $12 to $35 each, while Scripto, Bic, and Cricket fight it out for a share of the 99-cent disposable lighter market.
Americans purchased 29 billion packs of cigarettes in 1985, and last year they purchased only 24 billion. Despite this decline in cigarette smoking, Zippo continues to sell more and more of its famous cigarette lighters. Cigarette smoking does not seem to be important to the Zippo Manufacturing Co., the maker of these dependable lighters.
Zippo put out a collectors' guide specifically geared towards the Zippo collector. Since 1993, every July the company has held a swap meet in Bradford at company headquarters. Last year over 7,000 collectors from around the world attended. Also last year the Hôtel Drouot auction house in Paris auctioned over 400 Zippos, which brought $60 to $15,000 each.
Every Zippo lighter tells a story and some of those stories - and some of the Zippo lighters - are priceless. Collecting Zippo lighters is truly an enlightening experience. Zippo Manufacturing Company makes no claim as to how much a single lighter, however old or in whatever condition, is worth. The collectibles market is extremely volatile and any given piece is worth only whatever someone else wants to pay to begin or complete a collection. Yes, there are Zippo lighters that have brought quite a bit of money to the finder. But collecting Zippo lighters, I believe, is about fun, about history, about people. Zippo lighters have gone to war with the American soldier since World War II.
